SuperCoach Beta

The remote modeling tool that lets you teach AAC with AAC

Model language on the person’s SuperAAC board from your own phone, over Bluetooth, without reaching across them.

SuperCoach is now in Open Beta.

SuperCoach connected to the Everyday words board: the cell “want” highlighted on a small copy of the board and drawn large beside it, a Send reward button, the Model/Cursor and Select/Zoom switches, and the arrow pad.
SuperAAC on a tablet: the Everyday words board in PAACs symbols, with “I want more please” in the writing area.

Model

Highlight, then select

Move the highlight across the person’s board with the arrows, then press Select: SuperAAC acts on the cell as it would on a finger press.

SuperCoach’s Modelling highlight settings: Show the highlight while moving switched on, eight colours with magenta chosen, and the Border thickness slider held at 12 px.
Your colour, your thickness. Choose one of eight colours and a border from 1 to 16 pixels.
SuperCoach’s Modelling highlight settings with Show the highlight while moving switched off: its explanation is shown and the colour and thickness controls are gone.
Or hide it. No box draws the person’s eye from the word, yet your phone still shows the cell you are on and Select still works.

Zoom

Point without speaking

In Zoom mode, Select enlarges the cell to 1.7 times its size for a moment, without speaking it.

SuperCoach on the Everyday words board with Zoom chosen, ready to enlarge the cell “want”.
You set the pace. Choose how long each zoom lasts, from 0.2 to 2.55 seconds; it works on boards only.

Cursor

A cursor for the whole app

In Cursor mode, a trackpad steers a pointer across any SuperAAC screen, not just the board.

SuperCoach in Cursor mode: the cell “play” ringed on a small copy of the board, a square trackpad with an orange dot where a finger touches it, and a Select button below.
It moves as your finger moves. Select presses whatever the pointer is on, except controls kept for the person alone, such as the consents and signing out.
SuperCoach’s Cursor settings: five shapes with the ring chosen, eight colours with orange chosen, and sliders for size, opacity and sensitivity, with sensitivity held at 1.5×.
Easy to find, or barely there. Five shapes and eight colours, with sliders for size, opacity and sensitivity.

Rewards

Praise in the moment

Pick a reward once; when the moment comes, one press sends it to the person’s screen.

SuperCoach’s Reward sheet: Confetti explosion, Fireworks, Balloons, Falling stars, Hearts and Rainbow, with Fireworks chosen and Full screen switched on.
Six rewards, as a pop-up or full screen. With Calm mode or Adult presentation on, SuperAAC shows a quiet note instead.

Pictures

Send the day’s pictures

Take a photo or choose up to ten, and send them to the person’s image library; they can go on today’s page of their Remnant Book too.

SuperCoach’s Pictures card: three pictures (a playground, a ball, an apple), the caption “At the park”, where they go (Remnant Book and External Images Library, or External Images Library only), and a Send to button.
Straight to SuperAAC, if it accepts them. Pictures travel over Bluetooth with their location data removed, and SuperCoach keeps no copy once they are sent.
SuperCoach’s “Who is in this picture?” sheet, Pictures for Alex, picture 1 of 2: one face confirmed as Alex, and a second asking “Is this Sam?” with Yes, No and Someone else. The faces are cartoon faces from a PAACs illustration.
Say who is in them. On iPhone and iPad, optional face tagging suggests names; only the names you confirm are sent, and the faces stay on your phone.
